The information on rivers was obtained during 2 University of Sheffield expeditions in 1989 and 1991. This may be out of date and unreliable. You should assume that the river notes do not represent what you may actually find. The geology and environment in Iceland means the river hazards often change.
Kayaking on the rivers of Iceland is extremely hazardous and should only be attempted by those with suitable abilities and experience. The notes and materials on this website do not reduce these hazards and do not suggest that these routes are safe to undertake.
